troubleshoot

If you are reading this, you are one step away from resolving 99.9999% of issues that people unnecessarily pay to have fixed. Knowing the following info will have you back up and running before you could even compose a “HELP ME!!” text

Why you are here

Almost every electronic device on the planet behaves as follows:

1-Device turns on

2-Does what it is supposed to do

3-Doesn’t do what it is supposed to do

-User turns off/unplugs device and then plugs it back in

1-Device turns on

2-Does what it is supposed to do

Solution

Powering off/on all related devices will get you back to working sooner, here are three of the most common ways to do it:

1-Remove the power plug that is plugged into the wall power outlet, wait about 10 seconds, and then plug it back in

2-If the power plug is hard to physically get to, you can also turn off/on the surge protector that the device(s) is plugged into

3-If that is inaccessible you can flip the circuit breaker for the outlet that the device(s) is plugged into.  (This mimics a natural power outage)

It is best to just unplug the printers power plug and plug it back in but in the event that you cannot, the power buttons are usually located on the front or a physical switch is located on the side or back of the printer/scanner.
